David L. Parkyn

David Parkyn brings unique experience to Ter Molen Watkins & Brandt, offering particular value to higher education clients, but to almost any nonprofit CEO looking to enhance their skills in institutional leadership. Dr. Parkyn served 11 years as President of North Park University in Chicago, during which time he diversified and increased enrollment, and completed a 5-year capital campaign of $63,000,000. During his presidency the university’s endowment more than doubled.

Previously David served as Provost at Elizabethtown College, following a decade as Senior Vice President at Messiah College (both in Pennsylvania). He holds a doctorate in higher education administration and leadership from Boston College, and his preceding academic appointments were in religion and philosophy.

Since retiring, Dr. Parkyn has been teaching in graduate programs at Georgetown University, Immaculata University, and Gwynedd Mercy University in higher education leadership, institutional governance, finance and strategic planning, and assessment of student learning.

During his career David Parkyn has provided leadership in higher education on a national level serving on the editorial board of the Society for College and University Planning (SCUP) and the Board of Directors of the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (NAICU).

As part of TW&B’s array of consulting resources, Dr. Parkyn provides private one-on-one counsel for senior administrators looking to enhance their own understanding and abilities in anticipation of campaign planning and execution, management of governing boards, shared governance, institutional repositioning, and program expansion.

David and his wife Linda reside in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania.
