Heidi Waltner-Pepper brings more than 28 years of experience in the nonprofit sector with areas of expertise in education, arts, culture and human services philanthropy. Her service to clients has included campaign preparation and planning, conducting feasibility studies for campaigns ranging from $1M to $35M. She has extensive experience assessing development programs, creating fundraising plans and recruiting top development talent.
Heidi began her nonprofit career in marketing and public relations at several arts and cultural institutions, including NextMove Dance and the Mann Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia, before she began her development career in public broadcasting. Heidi spent the majority of her career at the Big Shoulders Fund in Chicago where she eventually became the Executive Director. In her various fundraising roles, Heidi was able to recruit and build effective teams, work strategically with Boards, create efficient fundraising systems and processes and ultimately increase fundraising results.
Heidi is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), is a 1998 alumna of the Development Leadership Consortium and a member of Women in Development Profession. Heidi has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of South Dakota and a Master’s Degree in Arts Administration from the University of Illinois at Springfield.
