Jeanne Snow

Adjunct Counsel: Community Foundations

Jeanne Snow brings more than 25 years serving the philanthropic sector. She has focused on institutional capacity and strengthening volunteer and donor relations. Her experience includes; youth engagement, board development, fundraising and marketing/planning support.
Early in her career she worked in education as a National Network, Director of Development for the University of Illinois Foundation, and later as the Director of Major Gifts and Regional Campaigns at Purdue and at Illinois Institute of Technology, and as Assistant Dean for Development and Alumni Relations at Chicago Kent College of Law.
More recently she served for over a dozen years as the first full time executive of the Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation in Michigan. All of Michigan is covered by community foundations and this one covers a five county area with an estimated population of 160,000 and a board of over 30. During her tenure the foundation had more than $64 million in new gifts and became the largest grant maker in northern Michigan; distributing over $2 million per year. They developed the largest single community foundation high school youth training and granting program and established one of the largest number of environmental fund accounts in the Great Lakes area.
With a large number of emerging small nonprofits in the area, the foundation established fiscal sponsorship programs to support capital campaigns; including grants in support of feasibility studies. Additionally, Jeanne developed ongoing educational and support efforts that were important to both the growth of the foundation and the local nonprofit community.
Jeanne retired from the Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation in 2010 to pursue consulting for other community foundations that can benefit from her experience. She has a Master’s degree in Public Administration and has been certified by AFP as C.F.R.E. for over 20 years. Her current volunteer roles are as a board member for Chamber Music North and the Botanical Garden Society of Northwest Michigan. She also serves as a fund advisor for the Cleo M. Purdy fund at the Community Foundation and is a long standing member of Rotary.
