Marc R. Barbeau
Marc’s passion and enthusiasm for advancing mission is often contagious for the clients he serves. With more than 20 years of experience in development, marketing and organizational leadership, Marc provides counsel on a full range of fundraising strategies creating momentum, new opportunities and positive organizational change. He has experience with liberal arts colleges, public universities and other nonprofit organizations.
His expertise in major gifts and planned giving enabled Marc in 2005 to solicit and confirm the largest gift in Carroll University history at that time. He has worked in all other segments of development; from annual giving, foundation, government relations, and proposal development. He has served as Vice President for Silver Lake College, Lake Erie College, Northland College and Up with People, Inc. While at Silver Lake College he secured funding to launch an undergraduate nursing program. At Northland College he transitioned a struggling advancement program into a high-functioning operation, exceeded several financial goals and objectives, while overseeing the Sigurd Olson Environmental Institute.
Marc began his development career as Director of Leadership Gifts at Carroll University. He was then the first Director of Advancement for the College of Arts and Communication and the Irwin L. Young Auditorium at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Subsequently, Marc returned to Carroll University as Senior Advancement Officer for Gift Planning and Estate Services. During his various posts, he has been involved in five separate fundraising campaigns. He has been a presenter on topics and case studies relating to planned giving, board development, sponsorships, media relations, and the fundamentals of fundraising.
He has served on the Board of Directors for the Planned Giving Council of Southeastern Wisconsin, on the Board of Directors for a regional hospital in Northern Wisconsin, and has been involved in lobbying and advocacy projects in the health-care and environmental sectors at both the state and federal levels.
Marc received his Master of Science in Organizational Development from Silver Lake College in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, and a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Carroll University, in Waukesha, Wisconsin.
