Amy Funk brings over two decades of high-energy, results-driven nonprofit leadership to her clients. She helps nonprofits refine their mission-driven storytelling, maximize their revenue, ensure that infrastructure is in place for capacity building, and source the right talent. With a keen eye for numbers and an ability to spot what needs to be done to enhance the bottom line, her work pairs high-end strategy with sustainable operational practices. She has a passion for reinventing processes and has worked in organizations with budgets ranging from $1.2 to $40 million in the performing arts, healthcare, and human services fields. Recent clients include Wisconsin Conservatory of Music, Hyde Park School of Dance, Meals on Wheels of Northern Illinois, and Friends of Lakeshore State Park.
Prior to joining TWB Fundraising, Amy began her nonprofit career at Sarasota Opera, serving as Campaign Manager for the public phase of their $20 million capital campaign. She was also instrumental in capital campaigns during her time at Midwest Palliative & Hospice CareCenter (now JourneyCare) and the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago. She returned to the performing arts sector at Florida Grand Opera, where she was recruited to build a development team from the ground up, and then served as the Chief Development Director at Have Dreams, an autism resource organization. Before entering the nonprofit field, Amy made strides in the corporate HR sector, leading recruitment searches for companies such as MBNA America and GE Capital.
Amy has a Bachelor of Arts in History from Millikin University and earned a Master’s degree in Nonprofit Management, with distinction, from DePaul University in June 2012. Mentoring development professionals is a key passion of hers, and she serves on the Peer Mentoring Committee of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Chicago Chapter and DePaul University’s Alumni Engagement Committee, School of Public Service. She also led the Annual Fellows Program of the Development Leadership Consortium, which introduces new development professionals to the philanthropic community in Chicago. In 2022, Amy joined the AFP Chicago Board of Directors.
