Tom Wick has spent nearly 40 years raising philanthropic funds in higher education, human services, and medicine. He has led comprehensive teams to build and sustain fundraising programs that surpassed historic goals.
Prior to joining TWB, Wick served as Vice President – Individual Giving for Rush University Medical Center. Wick has raised funds for a wide range of nonprofits, ranging from the YMCA of Metro Chicago, the University of Chicago, the Harvard Graduate School of Education, Macalester College, Lake Forest College, and Illinois Institute of Technology. Wick has worked closely with the institutional leaders to build convincing cases for support with clear-cut giving opportunities. He has guided and supported these leaders and trustees to build partnerships with donors that inspired them to make gifts at all levels, including principal ($1M) and transformational ($10M+) gifts. He has directed complex campaigns with the active involvement of board members and other volunteers to achieve record-setting goals.
Wick is a teacher and coach who has helped colleagues produce their very best results. Through his leadership of the Management Fellows program for the last 18 years, he has provided professional development learning opportunities to fundraisers who have become leaders in the field. In October, 2024, Wick received the Benjamin Franklin Award from the Association of Fundraising Professionals Chicago acknowledging his successful career and his positive impact on the professional growth of members of the Chicago fundraising community.
Wick earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Lawrence University and a Master of Science degree in Education from Northwestern. He also earned a certificate from the Harvard Graduate School of Education Management Development Program.
